MP Pierre Poilievre has an excellent idea. tHe power of public sector unions must be curbed. It must be curbed particularly in Quebec, but Ottawa is a good place to start. OTTAWA — A Conservative MP’s avowal to push for legislation to allow public servants to opt out of paying union dues has left some labour leaders aghast that all federal unions would face such an attack because of one union’s support for separatist parties in the Quebec election. Nepean-Carleton MP Pierre Poilievre said he plans to press his Conservative colleagues for legislative changes after regional wings of the giant Public Service Alliance of Canada supported candidates running for Québec solidaire and the Parti Québécois, which won a minority government Tuesday.
