The United Church:To whom it may concern?

That is how the United Chuerch seems to pray. It's latest landmark on its path to oblivion is the new Israel policy. The United Church should be ashamed of itself. No wonder it is losing its members so fast. The United Church of Canada has become so well-known for its take on social issues that it is in serious danger of losing its identity as a Christian denomination and in the process aggravate an already steep decline in attendance, say the authors of a soon-to-be published study of the denomination. “Their views of the United Church are being set by trends in secular thinking,” said Kevin Flatt, a professor of history at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ont., and one of the study’s authors. “But what does the church bring to these issues that is not just an echo of the NDP or [secular] environmental groups?”

The United Church seems to completely lost sight of basic Christianity.

Even many atheists agree, that the teachings of Jesus contain some universal truths that cannot be denied. Yet the United Church has abandoned these teachings, and become nothing more than NDP lite.

It's no wonder that the churches flock is fleeing, as they seem more committed to jumping on progressive band wagons, then tending to their congregations spiritual needs.

I was under the impression that a church could not get involved in politics or it would lose its charitable status. Would this apply to the United Church of Canada? Just wondering.
