Don MacPherson on the xenophobic pq

pq leader Pauline Mario's has shown her xenophobic stripes. A good piece by Don MacPherson. It is not a territial nationalism , it is pure ethnic nationalism. It has no place in modern societies. It’s official. By its own written admission, Pauline Marois’s Parti Québécois is Pqxenophobic. The cat was let out of the bag by a PQ communiqué on the party’s platform on language for the Sept. 4 Quebec election, which the PQ released on Sunday. Its proposed “new Bill 101” would, among other things, restrict the freedom of adults to attend English-language colleges and impose the same language requirements on businesses with as few as 11 employees that large corporations must meet. The communiqué justifies the proposed new measures by “the decline of French in Quebec, particularly on the island of Montreal.” The 798-word document offers only a single piece of statistical evidence of this decline, however: “The weight of the French mother-tongue majority in Quebec has slipped below the bar of 80 per cent,” it quotes Marois as saying. “On the island of Montreal, this rate passed from 52.1 per cent in 2001 to 48.8 per cent in 2006. It is high time to act.” Got that? “The French mother-tongue majority.” So the problem for the PQ is no longer that there aren’t enough people who can speak French. Ezra has it right

A lot of francophones left Montreal because of the high taxes to buy cheaper houses off-island in Laval and the south shore. So whose fault is that?

I sincerely hope Marois achieves her ambition to outlaw all other languages in the workplace. We need those entrepreneurs to move west!!! Opportunity awaits those who are not provincial. lol Cheers

Aided and abetted by Harper's over 1000 language cops decending on Canada's airports to protect English, whoops I mean French.

So we just make it so no transfer payments, health, education, equalization can go to entities that discriminate against the Canadian Human Rights Charter.
