The Supremes in Canada

I am not sure if the Tories will be re elected in 2015 or 2020. I think it is likely, but I try not to count my chickens before they are elected. There can be many lasting legacies of Tory government. There should a much smaller federal governed, the removal of other marketing boards and of course the choosing of judges. Another supreme is soon to be retiring. and there are picks to be made at many other levels. It is time to stop picking activist liberal judges. We need to pick supreme court justices who don't think they have the divine power granted to the Monarch in the past. Our supremes seem unfettered by the constitution. That must stop. The confused and confusing charter should be interpreted in a more conservative manner. It is not up to the courts to dictate morality and social issues. That should up to Parliament and of course the people of Canada. The Tories need to carefully choose judges who don't think that their whims should be the law of the land.

I am confident in the long game, incrementalism nothing too extreme. The noise from the chattering class being ineffectual. I have lost count how many faux scandals have fallen off the radar during the campaign.

Political party funding will hamper opposition. Charities are now dumping their advocacy wings to protect their status.

Critics will have much more accountability where they get their funding and how they spend their money. Reserves, charities, Unions.

Location if US rebounds we win, if we land trade deals with 50% of the targeted list we win.

The CPC will be judged on their record. Voters want a reason to vote for the candidate or party.

The platform of anti-trade, anti-oil, anti-mining by the official opposition will not resonate beyond the eco-weenies and special interests.

Both NDP and CPC are squeezing out the Liberals and a merger of what is left after the next majority will take another election cycle to find its centrist platform.

I’m willing to bet that the next SCC Justice appointed will be a visible minority as per section 15 of the charter! And Harper is just the guy to ensure that!
