In Quebec we also have a state controlled liquor monopoly called the SAQ. It is not as bad as in Ontario. You can buy and beer at supermarkets and corner stores. It is still a massive bureaucracy which contributes to higher costs. I would like to see the SAQ sold off. The Montreal Economic Institute agrees with me. I would also like to get the silly laws making the trade of liquor across provincial borders abolished. The Fraser institute is sponsoring an event March 14, 2012 in Montreal discussing the SAQ monopoly. It should be fun. I will be there. I hope you can attend as well.
