I attended the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario's New Year's levee at Fort George close to Niagara on the Lake. It was also the opening of the bicentennial celebrations of the War of 1812 and the start of Celebrations for HM the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It was a cold rainy day, but the crowds were big and everyone who wanted to, got to meet His Honour. There were many people in period attire and a wonderful pipe and drum band. There was great food and wine. There was even cannon fire on both sides of the border, to celebrate 200 years of peace with the US.
It was a wonderful day!
