I had a busy day yesterday. I got at 4:30 AM watched the Royal Wedding ( as did Stephen Harper and Laureen), then I went to see Stephen Harper give a speech at the Weider Center in Montreal. He was introduced by TMR candidate Saulie Zajdel, who is suffering from a hoarse voice. It really looks like Saulie has a good chance. Please help him all you can !
There was a large enthusiastic crowd.  HM PM talked about carrying a steady course and concentrating on the economy. He contrasted the Tory low tax policy with the ndp grit bloq high tax policy. He denounced the attempts to have Quebec separate from Canada.
Amos Sochaczevski, owner of the Montreal Suburban got up and said he was a friend of Cotler and he wished HM PM a long life and a Tory Majority!! He will be voting Tory!
There were some questions from reporters , which HM PM answered in both official languages.

I didn't realize there were a few violent thugs outside until after the event.

Today is Stephen Harper's Birthday. I wish him a very Happy Birthday and a Tory Majority government!!

Ever more Tory Endorsements

Mayor Ford made it official and endorsed the Tories.

This should make francis russell's head explode The Winnipeg Free Press:
Canada needs political stability to grow its economy and sort out its affairs, particularly its finances and soaring health-care costs. The most certain way Canada will get the stability and policies it needs now is by electing a majority Conservative government on Monday.

Inside Toronto.com
EDITORIAL: Conservative majority best for Canada

We think Canada has spent too much time worrying about federal elections during the past seven years. We think this has negatively affected public policy and economic growth.

We call on Canadians to vote for a Conservative majority government on May 2 - and we think the federal influence of Torontonians is in peril if there isn't a smattering of Tory blue on the city's election map once the election is over.

There. We've said it.

The Montreal Gazette;
In light of how this election campaign has unfolded, and what it has told us about the strengths and weaknesses of the parties and their leaders, it appears the optimal party to form a majority government is Stephen Harper's Conservative Party.

The Herald’s Election Endorsement: For a Stronger, More Prosperous Canada
Posted on April 29th, 2011 by Herald Ed Board in Editorial Board

With the election period drawing to a close, the question of which party will form our next government still looms large. Yet while the actual election results may still be in doubt, we at the Herald are certain of who should be elected: the Conservative Party of Canada. Moreover, not only should the Conservative Party and its leader Stephen Harper form our next government, but they should also receive a strong and functioning majority

Mississauga.com:
Tory majority means strong jobs, economy

Make no mistake — Monday's federal election is about the economy. It's about jobs.
The economy — creating jobs, attracting foreign investment and eliminating the deficit — is crucial to Canadian voters as we move forward from our fourth election in seven years. We first need a secure financial future before we can turn our attention to dealing with infrastructure, affordable housing and childcare.
We believe the best way to ensure continued economic growth and a complete recovery from the worldwide recession is to install a majority Conservative government in Ottawa.

Some Tories even got a union endorsement;
On Thursday, the Seafarers International Union of Canada representing sailors on lake ships formally endorsed incumbent Rick Dykstra in St. Catharines and Leanna Villella in the Welland riding.

"We don't look at it in terms of parties," said Jim Given, the SIU's executive vice-president. "We're going to support the candidate that is getting things done for our members."

Conservative candidates rarely get such an open endorsement from labour, and Dykstra was all too happy to trumpet the sailors' support.

More Tory Endorsements

Mayor Rob Ford will be endorsing the Tories. Not surprising, I saw Doug Ford at a Joe Oliver event a few weeks ago in Eglington Lawrence.

The National Post has also endorsed the Tories.

Editorial board endorsement: Conservatives a clear choice in uncertain times

National Post editorial board Apr 28, 2011 – 9:00 PM ET | Last Updated: Apr 28, 2011 8:57 PM ET

Chris Wattie/Reuters
The editorial board believes Harper is still right for Canada
On Oct. 8, 2008, six days before the last federal election, we wrote these words about our Prime Minister: “Stephen Harper has governed the country well overall. He has stuck by Canada’s mission in Afghanistan, provided sound stewardship for the economy (notwithstanding the inevitable buffeting we [have taken] thanks to Wall Street’s meltdown), managed the Quebec file well, returned Canada-U.S. relations to their normal level of amity, lowered taxes and implemented a number of welcome tweaks to our criminal justice system. Most importantly of all, Mr. Harper has avoided the temptation to impose any large-scale Trudeauvian social-engineering schemes on the country.”

The Record.

But Canadians have to create a new Parliament with the political parties and parts they have been given. When we weigh all the options, we conclude that despite their abundant flaws, the Conservatives, with their experience and vision, would be best for this country.

The Province
Harper is the leader who has shown he understands the need to control public spending, who will stand up for a strong, unified Canada, and who will focus his policies on the needs of taxpayers.

Harper isn’t perfect. We’ve been critical of him before and will continue to hold him to account in the future. But he’s our best option right now, when we need a firm hand on the tiller of our economy.

and the Brampton Guardian
EDITORIAL: Harper deserves a majority

Canadians on Monday will once again be asked to make a decision on who should govern this country and it’s a chance once and for all for the minority status of the Stephen Harper government to end.
Harper is not lovable or sexy, but he deserves a majority and a chance to lead the country to a complete economic recovery and beyond— a recovery that his government is partly responsible for and which is the envy of the industrialized world.

A Beautiful Royal wedding

I got up at 5AM and watched the wedding of TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. It was wonderful. The service and music were amazing. TRH William and Kate looked wonderful.  HRH the The crowds enormous. I was afraid of trouble, but HM Security forces carried it off without a hitch. A truly joyous day!
God Bless TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!!!!
God Bless the Royal family!!
God Save the Queen!!!

Dr Kellie Leitch Tory Candidate Simcoe Grey

Dr Kellie Leitch is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, She has been involved in Tory politics for many years.
Jim Flaherty Dr Kellie Leitch   Former Ont Premier Bill Davis
She is a brilliant womean. She has management experience. She understands our healthcare system as few can. She is hardworking and will be a great MP. Please volunteer, donate and vote for Dr Kellie Leitch.

"There's only one Conservative candidate in this riding, Kellie Leitch is our Conservative candidate, and True Blue will run forever in this riding. I feel confident that any individuals who aren't on board will be on board after Monday night.

Kemp also pointed to Conservative membership numbers in the riding, noting there has never been as many until now. "I don't think the divisions are as deep as many believe."

It was Geddes, Lloyd, Tatham, Canning and Kemp who kicked off Thursday's press conference with hearty and heart-felt endorsements of the candidate and her abilities.

"We're all here for one simple reason: we believe in Kellie Leitch, we believe in her leadership skills, and where she's going to take Simcoe-Grey in the future," said Geddes.

"The principles she stands behind are the everything I ever grew up as a Conservative knowing, and they're true to me, and they're true to her heart," added Lloyd. "Hurtful things have been said about parachute campaigns and candidates, and none of that is true. She is a resident, and the proof is in this house."

"This will be the first time in all the years I've been around, that we'll have proper representation from the Conservative Party in this riding. She'll be one of the best cabinet ministers we've ever seen, because I fully intend for her to be our next minister of health."

The OSM gives a concert with a propagandist

I have subscribed to the OSm for many years. Yesterday was an all Beethoven concert includng the beautiful Pastoral symphony one of my favourites.
The beauty of the music was ruined by the presence of warmist david suzuki. He rambled on inbetween pieces saying that capitalism is bad and that we shouldn't worry about the economy. He sounded like a true commie. He dismissed climategate and instructed us to worship scientists who have been making the same dire predictions for 40 years. I guess david didn't realize that these scientists have been wrong. The concert became very long with the rantings of the warmist. There were signs for the suzuki foundation all over the place and I was offered a chance to win one of the propagandist's books. I declined. Fortunately for david he didn't engage in electioneering or there would have been many more complaints to the authourities. The MSO made a mistake by inviting him to speak for so long.
The music was beautiful, but david was truly out of place. He had a slide show with many scenes of nature and that was nice.

Endorsing the Tories

The people of Canada need to elect a Majority Conservative government in order to continue our economic and jobs growth.  The ndp is reckless and without real costed  policies. jack maybe be a nice guy but he would be a very scary as leader of the coalition. They would be an economic disaster as well as reigniting a bitter national unity debate. The grits have become a non issu. iffy is just not capable of governing.

The Globe and Mail:

Only Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party have shown the leadership, the bullheadedness (let's call it what it is) and the discipline this country needs. He has built the Conservatives into arguably the only truly national party, and during his five years in office has demonstrated strength of character, resolve and a desire to reform. Canadians take Mr. Harper's successful stewardship of the economy for granted, which is high praise. He has not been the scary character portrayed by the opposition; with some exceptions, his government has been moderate and pragmatic.

The Suburban in Montreal

Economically, Prime Minister Harper's stewardship has been without peer in the developed world. The opposition's criticisms that we are in a deficit are specious arguments. All western nations are in deficit because of the need for stimulus spending after the 2008 crash. The opposition actually wanted more spending which would have resulted in an even bigger deficit. The Prime Minister's mix has been just right. Not too cold.

Not too hot. It has made us the envy of the world. The corporate tax cuts he has proposed are essential to guarantee that our economic recovery and growth continues unabated. They will allow Canadian companies to invest in themselves, grow and create more jobs for Canadians. Harper is our only alternative to the tax and spend chaos of the left.

The Windsor Star

Two things are critical to this region's continued success as it turns the corner on economic recovery. The first is electing a majority Tory government on May 2. The second is casting your vote to make sure that happens.

The reasons to do so are legion, starting with the border file. The Stephen Harper government has forged a strong bond with Mich. Gov. Rick Snyder and members of the Michigan legislature, and that relationship must not be compromised.

PKP is Wrong...

and my friend Patrick Muttart is awesome! Patrick is a brilliant strategist. His advice is sought out all over the world. We are lucky that Patrick is on our side. I think this statement explains things pretty well.

Statement From Mercury LLC in Response to a Column by Pierre-Karl Peladeau

NEW YORK, April 27, 2011 /CNW/ -- Opposition research is a fundamental and essential element of every successful political campaign and the practice of campaigns sharing opposition research with journalists and media organizations is common the world over. Ultimately journalists and media organizations conduct their own research and make their own decisions about what to cover and what not to cover.

Initially, Patrick Muttart provided Sun Media with multi-point verbal overviews concerning Michael Ignatieff and the War in Iraq. Later, he provided additional material at Sun Media's request. Sun Media used much of the information he provided. At no point did Muttart tell Sun Media that he had positively identified Ignatieff in the photo in question. And at no time did Muttart mislead, or intend to mislead Sun Media, in his provision of information to them.

The most disappointing assertion in Mr. Peladeau's column is his "belief" that Muttart sought to "damage the integrity and credibility of Sun Media and, more pointedly, that of our new television operation, Sun News."

This assertion is false and downright bizarre.

For the record, Mercury was hired by Quebecor to assist Sun News with its pre-license branding and positioning. Muttart worked with a creative agency to develop the network's original logo (a modified version is currently in use). And he was the original source for the network's "hard news" and "straight talk" framing language. Even after Mercury's engagement with Sun News came to an end, Muttart was asked for and provided pro bono feedback on the network's graphics and on-air promotional spots. Muttart was so committed to the success of Sun News he proactively reached out to a number of current, former and prospective clients about advertising on Sun News and facilitated a number of introductions. Again, he did this pro bono as a supporter of Sun News.

All things considered, it is ironic indeed that Sun Media has chosen to attack Patrick Muttart.

The grits are in huge trouble

HM PM Stephen Harper (and he will remain so) has wanted a left right divide in Canadian politics for many years. That seems to be happening and with the natural result that the libranos are being squeezed into oblivion. The latest Nanos poll has the Tories with massive leads in Ontario and BC and trending up in both provinces. We have a ten point lead over the dippers and 15 points on the floundering grits. The grits continue their delusions, though not all of them.

Fundraiser for Rudy Husny, Tory Candidate Outremont

Senator Boisvenu    Rudy Husny

Another fundraiser for our amazing Tory candidate in Outremont.  We had the pleasure of having Senator Boisvenu in attendance. Senator Boisvenue is a prominent victims rights advocate. His daughter was murdered. I had a chance to talk to the Senator and he gave a clear reasoning behind the Tory tough on crime legislation. His daughter was murdered by a repeat offender.
It was a wonderful evening and of course we watched the Habs game afterwards ( The Canadiens won! Please Vote , volunteer and donate to Rudy!

Desperation

The bloc has brought out money and the ethnics parizeau to help save their furniture. The grits have brought out, wait for it, stephane dion, dithers and pseudochretien. Wow there is really desperation in the air.
iffy seems unable to tell the truth.
The sight of Parizeau will drive many to the Tories. Bringing dion to campaign with iffy means the grits have already conceded. Some of iffy's candidates are already abandoning him.

More anti Tory Abortion silliness

So women's groups are protesting that the Tories will change abortion laws. I believe Stephen Harper when he says he won't. I am not altogether happy with that, As all of you know I am pro life just like some in the Tory caucus and some in the Liberal caucus like Szabo, McTeague and several others.
I am pro life and even I don't want to outlaw abortion. I want to discourage it as much as possible.
this includes all kinds of falsehoods and inaccuracies.  By the logic of these people, the grits will ban abortion. They have a a group of pro life MPs that defeated Ignatieff on this issue. Planned Parenthood says its funding is stable. And it was the New brunswick government that initially appealed the rulng about abortions in that province.

The grits did cut funding in 1995 to planned parenthood. Their fearmongering about abortion is pretty hollow. That describes the party these days. Pretty hollow.

How federal budget cuts are hitting women
The Hamilton Spectator
Tue Apr 4 1995
Page: A9
Section: News
Byline: By APRIL LINDGREN
Source: FROM THE OTTAWA CITIZEN
Critics of the government are being unfair when they say the Liberals have abandoned women's concerns in their zeal to cut the deficit, an exasperated Sheila Finestone says.
"There are certain realities that they are not willing to address and it's just not fair," the secretary of state for Status of Women Canada said.
"Don't tell me that we have not demonstrated a deep commitment to a variety of concerns of women. What more do they want in an era of very difficult change for an entire society?"
Ms Finestone says the government's response to women's concerns includes reinstating the program to fund Charter of Rights challenges, the introduction of employment equity legislation, partial settlement of pay equity claims in the public service, revisions to the criminal code (including limits to the use of the drunkenness defence) and the introduction of a national prenatal program.
But many feminist activists and researchers say this record must be weighed against setbacks for women as a result of the federal budget. For instance:
Advisory council gone
Funding for the 22-year-old Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women ended Friday. The council funded some of the original research that put violence against women on the national agenda. More recently it commissioned analyses of how proposed social program reforms will affect women.
The council spent about $500,000 of its $3.2 million budget on research and Ms Finestone says Status of Women Canada will continue to fund research at about the same level. She also insists there will be no political meddling in what research is undertaken and publicized. (The council had an arm's length relationship with government that limited the minister's influence over its research and conference agenda.)
Not everyone, however, takes comfort from such assurances: "It's clearly ridiculous to have the government tracking its own record," observes Sunera Thobani of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women.
Violence funding gone
The budget made no provision to continue funding the four-year-old, $136 million Family Violence Initiative which also wound up Friday. Frantic meetings are under way to determine if any new money is available to keep programs alive. At stake is direct funding for many women's shelters, community education programs and a national clearing house to distribute information on family violence.
Planned Parenthood cut
Canada has cancelled its $8.3 million contribution to the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Just six months ago, the government stood up at an international conference in Cairo and expounded on the need for safe, affordable birth control for women in developing countries.
"I find this absolutely astounding," says Bonnie Johnson, the Executive Director of the Planned Parenthood Federation of Canada. "Canada spent hundreds of thousands of dollars sending delegates to the International Conference on Population and Development and now they are doing exactly the opposite to what they were talking about."
Human rights investigators cut
Spending cuts at the Canadian Human Rights Commission mean that the commission's six regional offices will no longer investigate complaints. Critics say the elimination of the 40 regional investigators' positions will make it more difficult for women to have sex-discrimination complaints dealt with. In the future, all complaints will be handled through a toll-free line to Ottawa.
"Fewer complaints will be followed through and fewer people will complain. They will put up with discrimination for longer," predicts Pat Armstrong, the director of the school of Canadian Studies at Carleton University.
Sex discrimination cases made up 27 per cent of all complaints to the commission between 1991 and 1994. Almost all 373 of those complaints came from women. They ranged from sexual harassment cases to concerns about workplace discrimination because of pregnancy or gender.
Child care forgotten
The Liberal election promise to create 150,000 new child care spaces gets more unlikely with each passing year. Ms Finestone says the money promised for child care subsidies in last year's budget is still available. But it was not mentioned this year. And the cuts to federal transfer payments increase the odds against the provinces coming up with matching funds -- a condition of the federal contribution.
"Obviously this affects women, because without affordable quality child care women just can't access jobs," says Jocelyne Tougas of the Ottawa-based Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada. In Canada only 15 per cent of the three million children requiring full-time child care have access to licenced, regulated day care. This is much lower than among European Union members where 70 per cent of all children aged three to five years have access to public child care facilities. The comparable figure for Britain, for instance, is 44 per cent, and for Belgium it is 95 per cent.
UI discouragement
Plans to reduce unemployment insurance benefits and make it tougher to qualify will further discourage the thousands of single mothers on social assistance from venturing into the workforce, says Havi Echenberg, an Ottawa consultant on social and fiscal policy.
"The whole point of being in the workforce is to improve your financial status." says Ms Echenberg. But if the job is badly paid and insecure and the availability of UI benefits in doubt, then women will think twice about walking away from the relative security of welfare -- especially if they are also faced with inadequate child care arrangements.
Public service layoffs
Financial incentives designed to encourage 45,000 public servants to leave the federal government are likely to be less lucrative for women than for men. This is because pensions and buyout packages are based on years of service and salary levels. Yet women, who will be under equal pressure to leave government, generally have fewer years in the workforce because many take time off for children. And they tend to occupy the lower paid jobs.
The new urgency in government to commercialize and privatize public services and agencies will reduce the quality jobs available to women. Research shows for instance, that 72 per cent of public sector workers have paid maternity leave in their collective agreements, compared to 11 per cent in the private sector; 43 per cent of pubic sector workers are covered for family illness leave, compared to seven per cent of private sector workers; and 56 per cent of public sector employees are protected by sexual harassment provisions compared to 20 per cent in the private sector.
Johanne Labine, the women's program officer with the Public Service Alliance of Canada, says the union is also concerned that women will disproportionately lose their public service jobs as cutbacks go into effect. The introduction of new technologies and the definition of merit among the male-dominated management group are the reasons for this concern, Ms Labine said.
Some Liberal cuts
* Funding for the 22-year-old Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women has ended.
* The four-year-old, $136 million Family Violence Initiative wound up last week. Frantic meetings are under way to determine if any new money is available. At stake is direct funding for many women's shelters.
* Canada has cancelled its $8.3 million contribution to the International Planned Parenthood Federation.
* Spending cuts at the Canadian Human Rights Commission eliminated the 40 regional investigators' positions, making it more difficult for women to have sex-discrimination complaints dealt with.
* The Liberal promise to create 150,000 new child care spaces gets more unlikely with each passing year.

Rudy Husny, Tory Candidate Outremont

Rudy is still working very hard in Outremont. It's been a tough battle. He is having a fundraiser tomorrow. Donate and reserve here. Rudy has been an extraordinary candidate in a very tough riding. Show him your support!

You can hear him in a debate. Listen here on the Radio Canada website

Latest Nanos poll shows 14 pt lead nationally..

and an 18 point lead in Ontario. The Tories lead in all of the country except Quebec.
The biased msm is trying to spin this in favour of the grits and dippers, but that's just a fight for number 2.
It looks like more seats in Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador , the Maritimes and Alberta and perhaps BC.

In Ontario

Chris Alexander, Tory Candidate Ajax Pickering

Michael Coren is absolutely right. ( Except he talks about holland being a good man and thinks there are safe grit seats.)
Chris Alexander will be a great MP. He is smart compassionate, experienced and very hard working. The grits tried to smear him, but the smear will backfire.

Here's what he really said.

I urge everyone to vote, volunteer and donate to Chris. Let's elect him in Ajax Pickering.

Tories’ shining star 5
Ajax-Pickering candidate restores one’s faith in Canadian politics

BY MICHAEL COREN ,QMI AGENCY
FIRST POSTED: THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 2011 2:09:16 EDT PM

I have never endorsed a politician before. I’ve made some supportive comments for friends, but been careful not to give my explicit backing.

I’ve also voted for all of the major parties over the years and avoided party loyalty. But the Conservative candidate in the Ontario riding of Ajax-Pickering is an exception. Not because he is a Tory, but because he is Chris Alexander.

With hand on heart, and without denting my journalistic integrity, I can tell you that I’d vote for this 43-year-old — who restores one’s faith in Canadian politics — whatever his political party. I don’t live in his riding, and neither do most of you reading this column across Canada, but my goodness we should be proud of this guy

iffy infomercial

I guess someone did watch the iffymercial. You can watch it here. Pretty dull if you ask me.

If you look closely enough at the people on stage in the town hall backdrops, there are glazed eyes, bored looks and moments of predictable applause. At a couple of points it seems like the applause has been added, almost like a TV sitcom laugh track.

Canadianna explains.

Nobody trusts iffy?

iffy polls lower than his party. He thought he could have an election on trust. It's really not working. So what do the grits do they spend a lot of money on infomercials featuring iffy. I guess the only good thing about these infomercials for the grits is they are on at times where no one will watch. I mean who watches TV on a beautiful Easter Sunday afternoon.

It was supposed to be the “ballot box question,” according the Liberal game plan: Do Canadians trust Stephen Harper — a prime minister slapped with a historic “contempt” label just days before the election was called — to govern the country in the true spirit of democracy, with honesty, transparency, accountability?

Nearly one month later, and just days away from a vote that appears increasingly likely to give Mr. Harper’s Conservative party a landmark majority government, the Liberal strategy of trying to demonize Mr. Harper as a closet dictator pursuing “absolute power” is evidently in tatters.

Furthermore, much of the Liberal assault on Mr. Harper over trust and transparency has rebounded on the party’s own leader, Michael Ignatieff, whose awkward handling of the “coalition” question, his failure to overcome Tory-stoked suspicions about his commitment to Canada and his dismally low ratings on leadership indexes have left the Liberals in genuine danger of losing their status as the official Opposition
.

Happy Easter!

The Cosmonaut's last message to the Woman he once loved in the former Soviet Union

I recently saw the Canstage production of Cosmonaut's last message to the Woman he once loved in the former soviet union by Scottish playwright David Greig and directed by Jennifer Tarver. Not everyone liked it. I can't say I disagree with these reviews. I found the play somewhat dated and disjointed. I wasn't sure when it ended. The scenery was pretty minimal.  I found the actors pretty good, but I really can't say I liked this play very much. The theater was pretty empty. Not CanStage's finest hour.

Left Right Debate in the Laurentians

Francois Saillant       Mme Bolduc( moderator)    Eric Duhaime

I accompanied my friend Eric Duhaime ( a fellow Co Founder of the Reseau Liberte Quebec) on a trip to Saint Jerome. Eric debated Francois Saillant of FRAPRU and Quebec Solidaire.
It was a two hour left versus left debate at Cegep Saint Jerome in the Laurentians. There were two topics inter generational inequality and privatizing public services. I was surprised that the auditorium was actually full of students. I was also pleasantly surprised that the audience was actually quite open minded.  Eric did very well in the debate.  He spoke to the students and told them  that they would be the first generation of Quebeckers who would receive less from the state than they paid in.  Mr Saillant gave the usual points about social justice. He spent a lot of time bashing big business and rich people, but offered few solutions to problems. The students asked many questions, especially about the long waits for health care and seemed open to some private care.  i think Eric clearly won the debate and by the applause , I think the audience did as well.
After the event Eric and I met with 20 students who want to form a regional RLQ in the Laurentians.
It is great that the RLQ message of freedom is spreading across Quebec! Please join us!

Agop Evereklian, Pierrefonds Dollard Tory Candidate

Agop and his large energetic team have been working very hard in Pierrefonds Dollard. As my friend Ron Stein writes he should be the new Tory MP from Pierrefonds Dollard. As Stephen Harper says Agop is one of the hardest working candidates in Canada! The people of Dollard Pierrefonds deserve a hard working MP like Agop. the present grit is virtually invisible in Parliament and in the riding.

Watch video here Please vote , donate and volunteer for Agop. Things are going well in Pierrefonds Dollard . Help get Agop over the top!

Quebec and the Tories

From all I hear, our Quebec City seats are safe. Our friend Andre Arthur is doing well. Maxime will win big and we should have some more seats in Montreal like Agop Evereklkian , Saulie Zajdel( and hopefully many others) and other places in Quebec. The grits are in very big trouble in Quebec. There stranglehold on Anglophone and Allophone votes is slipping away.

Since providing the Conservatives with the bulk of their 2006 breakthrough in the province, voters in the provincial capital region have remained a breed apart, immune if not hostile to the Bloc’s left-leaning politics.

And despite speculation that the Tories could be punished for their refusal to subsidize a new hockey arena in Quebec City, they appear in little danger here as the May 2 vote approaches.

When Parliament was dissolved, the Conservatives held eight suburban and rural ridings in the region, including a stranglehold on the section of the province stretching south to the U.S. border.

We need a Tory majority and so do the grits. If the grits are to survive they need to face their time in the wilderness and rebuild.

Happy St George's Day

To all my English Friends! Happy St George's day.

The “Here for Canada” platform provides Canadians with a prudent low-tax plan to protect and create jobs by completing our recovery from the global economic recession. “Here for Canada” commits to eliminating the deficit by the 2014-2015 fiscal year without cutting transfer payments to individuals or to the provinces. And it contains concrete measures to secure Canada’s borders and keep our streets and neighbourhoods safe.

The Shrinking deficit

The federal deficit is going to be a lot smaller than originally predicted. $11 billion smaller. I'm sure the grits will gnash whatever is left of their teeth. Strong growth is shrinking the deficit. More good economic news for the last week of the campaign.

OTTAWA — The federal government may be on pace to pull Canada out of the red earlier than expected, according to a Finance Department report released on Thursday.

The monthly Fiscal Monitor indicated that the federal deficit grew by $600-million in February, after gaining $300-million in January.

With one month remaining in the fiscal year, the federal deficit sits at $28.3-billion — well under the $40-billion deficit for 2010-11 that Finance Minister Jim Flaherty projected last month.

22 point lead over sinking grits

Ipsos Reid's latest poll has the grits in free fall with even the dippers ahaead of the grits. It gives the Tories a 22 point lead.  Thinks in Quebec look bleak for the grits. There is only a week to go nd iffy is well on his way to returning to Harvard. I am still not sure why the grits tried this desperate gambit.

Good Friday

John 3:16

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Today is Good Friday. It is the Holiest time of the year for Christians.  The day  when Our Lord and Saviour was crucified for our redemption.  It is a time of reflection fasting and ultimately the celebration of the Risen Christ!

Horror

Matthew 18:6  But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

I cannot completely express the horror, contempt and disgust I feel for this " doctor". He swore to heal and protect life and he murdered his own children, Olivier and Anne-Sophie. If he was so despondent over his wife's affair he could have sought help. He was surrounded by health professionals.
He killed them in the most horrible way possible, repeatedly stabbing him. He of course didn't die. I believe God will forgive him, if he expresses remorse and repents, but he must still face the full weight of man's justice. He must be convicted and jailed for life.

Get Rid of the Thought Police

Another outrageous decision by the BC thought police.
$22000 for hurt feelings. This must be appealed to a real court. These tribunals are a menace to free speech and therefore to liberty itself. I am sure Ezra will have a lot to say about this truly stupid decision.

Watch out grits, Saulie is giving you a run for your money

Saulie and his grand daughter

Saulie Zajdel has been a Montreal city councillor for 23 years. He knows the community and the community knows him. He has a lot of experience in government as a memeber of the executive committe of Montreal. He was in charge of Economic and Urban development in Montreal. He was on the Public Safety Commission. He was on the board of the Montreal Development Corporation. He had many other portfolios in the municipal administration of Montreal. He knows about economics, job creation and a multitude of other issues. Irwin Cotler is being seriously challenged for this "safe" grit seat. I think Saulie actually has a good chance. The NDP surge is also not good news for grits in Quebec. Saulie will be an excellent MP!

Even Mr. Cotler’s wife, Ariela, expressed her outrage at comments made by Michael Ignatieff during the 2006 Liberal leadership race, when he said Israel’s actions in the war against Hezbollah constituted “war crimes.” Though she didn’t leave the Liberal party, she demanded Mr. Ignatieff apologize publicly for the comments.

Mr. Zajdel believes that two-thirds of Jewish voters have become disenchanted with the Liberals and will vote for him on May 2. “If I get 70% of the Jewish vote, I win. I’ve got to make up 10,000 votes and it would be a small miracle. But it’s possible,” he says.

An additional incentive to vote Tory would be a likely seat at the Cabinet table for any Conservative elected in Montreal.

Canadians are second happiest people on earth!

And why shouldn't they be. After five years of a Tory government, their taxes are lower, their employment levels are growing as is their economy. The grits want everyone to believe that Canada is going down the tubes. It is not! It is thriving and will continue to do so under a Tory government! I also note the top 3 all have center right governments and the top 4 are all Constitutional Monarchies!

Are you happy? According to a new global wellbeing survey from Gallup, 69% of Canadians rated their lives as “thriving” in 2010 — putting the country in a tie with Sweden for second place in the rankings. The top spot belongs to Denmark, where 72% of residents are feeling pretty great about life. Who could be sad in the country where meatballs are plentiful?

Rudy Husny CPC Candidate in Outremont Week 4

Rudy continues his battles in Outremont.
He attended a debate for the candidates yesterday. the bloc candidate didn't show up. it was a lively 2.5 hour debate. Many questions were asked to Rydy, as the representative of the government. The room seemed stacked with grit supporters. Some of the questions were not very good. One oman tried to blame the Tories for entering Afghanistan. Rudy reminded him of the time line and that it was the grits that first sent troops to Afghanistan. mulcair , cauchon and the green oarty candidat M.Pilon all had laundry lists of spending and more taxes. Rudy concentrated on the economy. I will post video when it becomes available.
Rudy continues to do many radio interviews and debates on CJAd and CBC to name just a few.
Please continue to vote, donate and volunteer for Rudy.

Canadian Election Cartoons

iffy is really completely out of gas.
He is going back to Harvard soon.
He is looking more like jack daily. iffy doesn't want everyone to rise up.
Canada is already sick of this election. I'm sick of the bloc.

blue grits need to listen to John Manley

John Manley, a former grit finance minister, thinks iffy's tax hikes are madness. john mccallum another grit finance minister, admits iffy's tax hikes will cost jobs. iffy and his dipper bloc coalition would be an economic disaster for Canada. blue grits have no place in the leftist coalition. It's time to vote Tory.

More grits desperation

The latest grit healthcare gambit is fully exposed by Steve Stinson in the National Post. It is more about grit desperation than actual policy.

No one really believes that the parliamentary ritual of Question Period accomplishes anything concrete. But the daily session, during which MPs ask tortured non-questions that are given evasive non-answers, is at least helpful in identifying the issues that stoke opposition fervour in Ottawa.

In the month of March, which ended with the dissolution of Parliament, the Liberal party asked many questions about tax rates, election financing and ethics. It asked questions about prisons, Bev Oda, the CBC and the Champlain Bridge. It asked questions about the environment, child care and fighter jets.

It did not ask any questions about health-care funding.

The same is true of February: zero questions about health care, save for a couple here and there that asked why the government wasn’t rushing to hold clinical trials for the controversial “Liberation” treatment for multiple sclerosis.

It’s a record that is tough to square with the Liberals’ newfound zeal for health care, the latest evidence of which was an announcement on Tuesday that former prime minster Jean Chrétien would join leader Michael Ignatieff on the campaign trail “as the Liberal team shares the Liberal commitment to protect universal public health care.” That statement came just a few hours after Bob Rae and two other Liberal candidates held a press conference in Ottawa to accuse the Conservatives of plotting to slash health-care funding in order to balance future budgets.

Chantal hebert doubts it will work. I think the lies won't work>

Finnish Eurosceptics/ Conservatives win elections

I am a eurosceptic. The eu is a threat to freedom and his a huge bureaucracy that will tax the people of Europe into bankruptcy. people in europe are waking up to the dangers of the eu. Freed trade yes! Not taling over of national sovereignty by bureaucrats in Brussels. HM PM Cameron need to have a referendum on the EU. The leaders of the UK have promised this, but have all reneged. Indeed many of my Tory friends have been defecting to UKIP. Even Baroness Thatcher has been helping UKIP. The UK Tories are wrong on Europe.
As I have told my UK friends divided Tory parties lead to leftist victory. It's time for Cameron to rethink his support of the bloated brussels bureaucracy.

Quebeckers need to vote Tory!

The spectacle of the pq convention was enough to give most people in Quebec ulcers. I have lived in this province for 47 years! I have many French Canadian friends. I even have friends who support Quebec separation. I doubt a single one of them would be proud of the measures passed by the PQ. The pq is a leftist, statist party , that would unleash more language police on Mom and Pop restaurants and small corner stores. They want to deny adults the right to choose where they go to school and of course barely defeated a move to remove all English on signs. They are the ideological brothers and partners of the bq.
There anglophobia shines through yet again. The incompetence of the charest grits almost guarantees a pq government. We must not have the bloc in a position where it could help its quebec wing. It is time for Quebec allophones and anglophones to have a seat at the Federal cabinet Table. It's time to vote Tory and no to the grit dipper bloc coalition. A Tory majority government would also rid us of electoral welfare and the bloc would lose most of its funding.

There's small comfort to be taken from the backtracking that delegates to the Parti Québécois convention did on a motion to have a PQ government revert to obligatory French-only commercial signs.

They did so in a second vote on the issue after the party leadership persuaded them that such a resolution would be strategically counterproductive to the PQ's fortunes in the next election campaign. This was only hours after an initial vote went the other way - a vote in which a majority of the most active people in the party let us know what they really think.

Even with that reversal on signs there were other motions, which passed handily, signalling that an urgent priority of a PQ government would be a spate of language measures intended to curb current English-language rights - even in areas where there is no demonstrable need for such repressive action other than to pander to the anglophobia of Péquiste hardliners. This is particularly the case with the newly enshrined PQ policy of extending Bill 101 restrictions to CEGEPs, a measure disputed even by the provincial French-language watchdog commission as unnecessary and inadvisable.

In a further crackdown, the PQ now proposes to extend French-certification requirements to small businesses with fewer than 50 employees, meaning that language inspectors would be loosed on small restaurants and mom-and-pop depanneurs to ensure they are not contributing to the endangerment of French in the province. The ranks of the language coppers would be further bolstered by the addition of new cadres required to investigate municipalities and hospitals with bilingual status in a drive to determine if such standing might be withdrawn.

Passover

I celebrated Pesach with my friend Owner and Doggy and his family, as I have done for many years. It was great as always to celebrate with my friends and to remember our common heritage. This weekend is Easter. When Christians around the world will celebrate the Risen Christ. Both holidays celebrate freedom and redemption. I wish a Happy Passover to all my Jewish friends.
I also remember one who is not free. Who is kept hostage by the enemies of freedom, Gilad Shalit. He has been kept hostage by the terrorist group hamas for 5 years! He must be freed and returned to his family! All governments must demand freedom for Gilad Shalit.

It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest greetings to the Canadian Jewish community as you gather to celebrate Pesach.

Pesach is a time when loved ones come together to commemorate the Exodus from Egypt and the struggle of the Children of Israel to be free. Pesach is a symbol of freedom triumphing over oppression, it stands as a testament to the determination and unwavering faith of the Jewish people. Throughout the centuries, the Jewish people have drawn strength and inspiration from this momentous event in our shared history.

Canada has been immeasurably enriched by the contributions of Jewish Canadians. The community has played an integral role in the creation of our pluralistic society which values tolerance and understanding between people of all faiths and cultural backgrounds.

Please accept my heartfelt wishes, as well as those of my wife Laureen, and all members of our Conservative Party, for a happy and peaceful Pesach.

Chag Samayach!

Chantal Hebert on the continuing grit problems

The Tories have recovered in Quebec and we will maintain our Quebec City seats and will very likely win some more. Iffy and his grits are not having a good campaign in Quebec. I live in Outremont. Rudy Husny, CPC and Mulcair are everywhere. Cauchon is the invisible man.

Short of a game-changer between now and May 2, Michael Ignatieff’s Liberals will take a beating in Quebec next month.

To fully measure their predicament, consider that the Liberal frontline in Quebec has shifted to ridings the party used to take for granted less than a decade ago.

At mid-campaign, the federalist Outaouais region is a four-way battleground and the Liberals will have to fight hard for second place across much of the equally federalist Eastern Townships.

In Montreal, former prime minister Pierre Trudeau’s Mount Royal seat is at play, with the Conservatives hoping that their pro-Israel foreign policy will play well with the riding’s strong Jewish community.

In the rest of Canada, wave upon wave of Conservative negative ads eroded Ignatieff’s standing long before the election was called. But in Quebec the damage was largely self-inflicted.

Eric Duhaime at the RLQ Montreal Event

I am proud to say that Eric Duhaime is a good friend of mine. More importantly he is a friend of freedom. He ended the RLQ Montreal event with a rousing speech about a sacred Quebec cow, unions.
Listen here.
He also has a piece in the Sun about ending electoral welfare.
He still goes to support the small shoe merchant who is being hounded by anti Israel protests
Thank you Eric for all you do!

Federalists in Quebec need to Vote Tory

The PQ is having a :"national" council this weekend and pauline marois got 93% support. There was discussion of banning English on signs ( defeated) and making college and CEGEP students be required under Bill 101 to go French schools.( hopefully to be defeated) The PQ is a radical ethnic nationalist party. Who showed up the convention to tell everyone there to vote in more bloc MPs.
gilles duceppe of course. Why ? Well of course to pave the way for another separatist referendum.
The majority of Quebecers are sick and tired of these attempts to break up Canada. It's time to move on. The Tories respect provincial rights and jurisdiction. The grit promises almost always interfere with provincial rights.

Imagine if there is a pq government and there is a separatist socialist grit coalition. Either the coalition would given in to bq blackmail (essentially a bloc veto) or the coalition would become unstable just at a time when Canada would need a strong stable government.
If you are a Quebec federalist You cannot take a chance on the coalition parties. Vote for a united Canada . Vote Tory.

Return of the libranos

Iffy and the libranos are growing more desperate daily. They have brought back pseudo chretien and dithers to help remind people of the sponsorship scandal. Perhaps iffy thinks if the libranos promise to return the 40 million missing from adscam, the Canadian people will forgive the grits. Ap[parently iffy wants the politically dead to rise up? Or is he trying to get the dead to rise from cemeteries to vote grit?

RLQ in Montreal

Guy Bolduc

Jean Allaire and Danielle Smith

The Quebec Freedom Network had an event in Montreal! I have to say that I am really tired. I helped organize this event with my friends Joanne Marcotte, Eric Duhaime, Ian Senechal, Guy Bolduc , Pedro Rodrigues and a lot of other dedicated volunteers. Over 450 people showed up for the event!
The lefties and unions had threatened huge demonstrations. They call us the radical right. They say we are dangerous. I guess liberty is a scary concept for lefties. They actually don't want us to even talk about our ideas. For all the talk, less than 60 people showed up to protest( I wonder if they were paid?) to protest.
Our keynote speaker was leader of the Wildrose Alliance,  Daniele Smith. She gave an amazing speech. Read it here. She spoke about the links between Quebec and albert, about ethical oil and of course equalization payments.
We had many other excellent speakers like Michel Kelly Gagnon and Nathalie El-Grably. I will post all the speeches when they become available.
The day ended with Eric Duhaime talking about the union monopolies in Quebec.
We had lots of interesting Kiosks like the Fraser Institute, The National Post, the National Citizens Coalition, the Free Thinking Film Society andAdam Daifallah and Paul  Beaudry ( below)who sold

freedom bumper stickers. We had a lot of media at the event and have had a fair bit of coverage.
It was overall a huge success. We have shown that there is an appetite for these ideas in the heart of leftist Montreal. Hopefully we and our friends will help grow this movement in Quebec. Ultimately we want to influence political parties to embrace these ideas more fully!

Canada's Royal Wedding Stamps

Royal Canadian Legion Officials members of Dominion Command

Isabelle Toussaint withe stamps she created

I had a lovely morning at Rideau Hall this morning. His excellency the Governor General david Johston unveiled the Royal Wedding Stamps. It was wonderful to see Rideau Hall again. There were about 150 people in attendance. I attended with a contingent from the Monarchist League of Canada. Canada Post had initially said it would not issue stamps, but with a lot of demands from the league and Canadians that decision was changed.
HE spoke of how his wife HE Sharon and he had been married for 46 years and had met when she was 13 years old. He wished  HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton as much happiness and fulfillment as he and his wife had experienced. He spoke of the central role of the Crown in our democracy. The head of Canada post Deepak Chopra also spoke and introduced the designer of the stamps Isabelle Toussaint from Montreal.
It was great to see old friends and meet a lot of new people at the lovely reception that followed. I had a chance to chat with HE and reminded him that he was principal of McGill when I was at McGill and that I had recently asked him a question at a conference in Montreal.
There were many young people at the event and they crowded around the portraits of the stamps to have their pictures taken.
It was a really great event. Canada Post is printing 16 million of these stamps and they will be availible across Canada!
