The Tories raised an astonishing $7.5 million from 50,478 donors, for the first quarter of this year. This was almost 3 times the grits $2.75 million and 4 times the dippers $1.9 million. The Tory fundraising juggernaut rolls on. grit fundraising prospects are pretty bleak. Donating to a third party that stands for nothing will be a hard sell. The Tories and dippers gained votes while grits, greens and bq lost large numbers of votes. Even if the $2 per vote subsidy wasn't going to be cut off ( and it will be) the grits , greens and bq will lose a lot of money. I suspect the grits have a lot of loans to pay off from this campaign and losing $1,7 million in electoral subsidies will not be very helpful. The Tories and dippers actually gained votes and would get more electoral welfare. Time to get rid of electoral welfare!
I suspect Tories numbers for the second quarter will be even better. It could be a record breaking years for the Tories.
