More on Toxic multiculturalism

My friend Licia Corbello has a good piece on toxic multiculturalism There is commentary from the MCC ( I am a member).

Mahfooz Kanwar, a member of the Muslim Canadian Congress, says he has some better ideas.

"I'd tell them, this is Canada, and in Canada, we teach music and physical education in our schools. If you don't like it, leave. If you want to live under sharia law, go back to the hellhole country you came from or go to another hellhole country that lives under sharia law," said Kanwar, who is a professor emeritus of sociology at Mount Royal University in Calgary.

That might be putting things a little more forcefully than most of us would be comfortable with, but Kanwar says he is tired of hearing about such out-of-tune demands from newcomers to our country. "Immigrants to Canada should adjust to Canada, not the other way around," he argues.

Kanwar, who immigrated to Canada from Pakistan via England and then the United States in 1966, says he used to buy into the "Trudeaupian mosaic, official multiculturalism (nonsense)."

He makes it clear, that like most Canadians, he is pleased and enjoys that Canada has citizens literally from every country and corner in the world, as it has enriched this country immensely. But it's official multiculturalism - the state policy "that entrenches the lie" that all cultures and beliefs are of equal value and of equal validity in Canada that he objects to.

Dr.Roy, have you read the post at "Prince Arthur Herald" in defence of multiculturalism?

It's a "must read". It's just above this post at the Blogging Tories.

You are spot on. As for the article by Prince Arthur Herald, it is sloppy, naive and shows a lack of critical research and thought. First it confuses the natural process of cultural exchange between different cultures with official state multiculturalism. Then it proceeds to argue that official state multiculturalism is limited to accepting all cultures without discrimination. Apparently the writer has no awareness of the numerous HRC rulings discriminating against Canadian culture and values. Furthermore to insinuate that all cultures are equal is ridiculous, unless one is willing to accept honour killings of girls and women, forced marriages, the stoning of homosexuals or raped women.

The other nonsense that we have here in Canada is "state policy that entrenches the lie" that our official languages are of equal value and of equal validity"
That is pure nonsense and why do politicians try to kid themselves and Canadians as well - we aren't idiots and go sell that political correct crap somewhere else.

Multi-culturalism was shoved down our throats by Trudeau. The constitutional amending formula virtually precludes corrections, even though this is costing us a fortune in loss of our Canadian culture and insane challenges to the ill-written Charter which progressively erode our freedoms.
