An update on our friend and colleague Tarek Fatah.

In case you've been out of the loop lately, the co-host of Friendly Fire was hospitalized last week complaining of back pain and weakness in his legs. He thought he'd pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve. But it was something more serious. He required emergency surgery and doctors at St. Mike's hospital removed a cancerous tumour from his back.

He's been undergoing a battery of tests and assessments as the team at St. Mike's plans his radiation and chemo treatments. The question is whether the cancer has spread and as of Wednesday morning, things are looking good.

Needless to say...the cancer diagnosis is tramautic enough. But those of you who've been through it will know that the follow up tests and scans can be all the more nerve wracking. It’s difficult to measure the emotional toll of waiting for those results.

Nothing but best wishes and prayers for Tarek Fatah's speedy recovery.

What a shock: to think you've pulled a muscle and then to discover you have cancer.

God bless him and his family.
