More Tory seats in Newfoundland and labrador

I was never a big fan of blowhard danny williams. He was an impediment to the Tories winning seats in Newfoundland and Labrador. Now he is gone and perhaps the people of Newfoundland and Labrador realize that is a mistake not being represented directly in cabinet. Every seat counts. The Tories are very very close to a majority now. They need 12 seats to acheive that. Thre or four from the Rock will be a big boost! Inspite of all this, I still dont think we will have a spring election!

The Rock might roll with Tories next time

A federal election hasn't been called, but nonetheless a campaign is going full tilt. Leaders of the Liberals and the New Democrats are touring the country, telling Canadians how they would do a better job of running the country.

The ruling Conservatives have released a new ad campaign that attacks the opposition parties and defends the government's record.

It's all in preparation for the possibility the government will be toppled when this year's budget is brought down... and none of the parties wants to be caught off guard if that happens.

If there is a spring federal vote, the landscape will be much different in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Former premier Danny Williams played a big part leading up to the last vote with his Anyone But Conservative campaign.

Williams implored voters in this province not to send any Conservative MPs to Ottawa... and it worked.

I was discussing the 12 seats last night with some fellow Tories.

My calculation was that we could pick up or take back at least 1 in BC, 1 in Alberta, 1 in the Maritimes, 2 in NL, 5 in Ontario. Suddenly Quebec doesn't look as essential.

Quebec isn't. But I'm show voters there in some spots at least want a breath of fresh air from the left.
