Clint Eastwood likes a flat tax

I like a flat tax. I have mentioned that to HM Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty many times. Nice to hear that Clint does too.

Clint Eastwood Says “Make My Day” with a Flat Tax
January 30, 2011 by Dan Mitchell
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Clint Eastwood is asked about the new governor of California and uses the opportunity to advocate a simple and fair flat tax.

“But I’ll tell you when I liked him—and I wasn’t a registered Democrat—but I liked him when he was running for president [in 1992] on the flat tax. . . . A ton of economists, both liberal and conservative, have argued for a flat tax, but nobody’s ever had the nerve to do it. . . . It would simplify things, but simplification doesn’t seem to be in the human psyche.”

what is the largest waste of money for both individuals and businesses alike? accountants.
a flat tax where there are no write offs for business (of course you dramatically drop the corp rate) and no tax returns for individuals (everyone pays say 10% irregardless of income), you get rid of the cost of accountants (a simple bookeeper will do) and you need far less public servants at the tax office who take money in only to cut a cheque back out to the public.
arguing the rate should be the only thing left to do.
