By elections
I am sitting in Kerala, India following the federal byelections in Canada on twitter. It looks like Fantino has won by a narrow margin. we have kept the other Manitobe seat and the iffy grits have finally narrowly won a byelection. I continue to predict no federal election in the near future. Even the NDP are in no shape for a federal run right now. The grits are still broke and though they won one seat, they lost a seat they held for 22 years. Hardly a huge endorsement of iffy.

Hardly an endorsement for "Iffy", but hardly an endorsement for Harper either.
Though I agree with those who say that by-elections don't give us any real indication of the next election, these by-elections seem to have show that the party system right now is... exactly as it was yesterday. And the day before. And the day before. And the day before. Etc.

PS.
I know very little about Kerala,,. But I the little I have heard (or read) has all been good. If we ever meet in "real life", I'd love to talk about your vision/opinion/etc
Kerala reminds me of 45 years ago visiting my uncle and aunt there. Fond memories of returning from living in Kenya to Canada so did not have typical western reaction to what I saw. Favorite slide picture was of a traffic circle encircled by communist flags with a huge Catholic church in the background. Quite an experience for a teenager.
1/7 poaching of a left leaning seat from your coalition partner.
How can things not be sweeter?
Jack and Michael are going to be in need of some couples therapy.
Enjoy your stay in Kerala, Dr. Roy, and raise a glass to the CPC while sitting on the verandah under a palm tree, sipping a Mint Julip!
One of my favourite curries, which I make from scratch, is "Kerala Coastal Chicken." It was the first curry recipe I ever made and where I learned that "curry" is a combination of tangy herbs and spices -- each one different -- not the execrable curry powder most Canadians call "curry."
Bon appetit!
