I have attended 2 concerts of the MSO's Beethoven festival . The first concert consisted of the 2,8 and 5th symphonies.
The Fifth symphony is probably the most famous ever written. Both concerts were preceeded by talks with Kelly Rice interviewing Guy Marchand. Marchand talked about the more serious symphonies being the od numbers. He talked about the repetition of themes in beethoven's symphonies, which became de riguer after beethoven.
Finally I heard the 1st and 9th symphonies. The Ninth Symphony is the music I imagine will be played in heaven. It was an amazing performance of my favourite symphone.
