Great Sadness

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Michelle Lang and the four soldiers that were killed in Afghanistan. I am deeply saddened by these deaths. We will not forget those who died for freedom.
A Canadian journalist and four Canadian soldiers died in Afghanistan on Wednesday in the blast of an improvised explosive device. Reporters are vital to a functioning democracy. This brave young paid a heavy price for seeeking the truth. May they all rest in peace.

Calgary Herald reporter Michelle Lang, 34, was on secondment to Canwest News Service and was travelling with a provincial reconstruction team in Kandahar when the attack occurred.

The Department of National Defence has not yet released the names of the four soldiers killed in Wednesday's explosion, but their deaths bring the toll of Canadian soldiers to 138 since the mission there began in 2002.

Details of the attack have not been released.

It was Ms. Lang's first stint in Afghanistan. She arrived in the country on Dec. 11 and was due to return to Calgary on Jan. 22.

you might try removing your diseased genes from the pool and earning some carbon credits. I guess respecting the grief of the dead is anathema for you progressive shites. No wonder those of us with brains hate your ilk with a passion.

Now go play chicken with a 16 wheeler - it's the best you can do for your society, since you progressives don't have the spine to go where the going is tough. And yeah, you pustulent SOB - I'm a vet so blow the chickenhawk cliched comeback forming in your syphillitic mind out your slack rectal sphincter.

Five families will be sobbing tomorrow, in pain some of us will fortunately (hopefully) never feel, while most other Canadians celebrate New Year's Eve.

I'm amazed, and frankly kind of depressed, that this sad news would become yet another occasion for people to spout their tiresome and sickening worldview in which everything is viewed through the prism of liberal vs. conservative.

Please, for the sake of decency, resist the urge -- just for once -- to use an occasion to make a political point, and do us all a favour and S.T.F.U.

Thank you.

Last week Kate's Kreeps over at SDA were laughing about all the reporters that were killed during 2009. Is this one funny too?

SQ...what the F*ck are you squawking about?

And to the other idiots who feel sorry for these 'taliban' - time to grow up and realize that you can come on these blogs and name call and disagree and create havoc and NO ONE is planting a bomb in the street to create fear on your drive home.

You are idiots and I wish you would just go hang out with the other idiots who believe that somehow if we just gave everyone a big hug, these guys wouldn't have the desire to kill you once your back is turned.

They are cowards and so are you. I really hope this sad event kills the 'detainee' issue dead. I hope it screams into Canadians faces that these people want to kill us and getting hit with a shoe should not be our concern.

Will it?

I doubt it - it seems that some people are just too stupid to see the facts - even when five Canadians have to lose their lives to drive the points home.
