I would prefer the grits disappear and the NDP be the official opposition. I would never vote NDP, but at least they are honest in their vision for Canada. The grits stand for nothing and everything. The grits are deeply in debt and seem to think electing a new leader will solve their problems. Let's hope they continue to think that.
But if Liberals believe they can solve their problems just by changing the leader, they are in for more surprises. It was not Dion who brought chaos to the Liberal party; it was the chaos that elected Dion.
The Liberal party at present is like the North American auto industry: a sector with a few brand names but no product. It has no money. Instead, it has a debt of $3 million, plus it has to raise money for the leadership convention and the next election. What's more, because it now has fewer MPs, it loses at least $3 million in public funding.
The Liberals have no policy. The legacy from Dion's leadership is the Green Shift; and I leave it to you to judge the "electability" of this proposal, at least at this time.
They have no organization. The lack of adult supervision at the top was clear last Sunday in Mississauga during the tug-of-war between Bob Rae and Michael Ignatieff. It was a tempest in a teapot, easily avoidable with a little compromise.
