Can't Teach a Dixie Chick New Tricks.

  • Old 'tude keeps Dixie Chicks' new music off the air
Many listeners still peeved over Maines' slap at Bush in '03.
  • Many stations in the southern US both POP and country stations still won't play Dixie Chicks music. The Chicks have learned nothing. Their new single "Not ready to Make Nice" has come in at 36th position much lower than usual for this group. Maines ,their lead singerr had said in 2003 she was ashamed President Bush was US President"
"In the same interview, Maguire(one of the chicks) says she'd "rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith. We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do."

"When you are a celebrity or in the spotlight, you have to learn to bite your tongue and keep your mouth shut no matter what your opinion is," Dahl said. "You would have thought they learned from the first comment they made. I think they rekindled an old fire."
What an utterly stupid thing to say. Insulting potential fans seems a funny way to sell albums. Insulting other stars also seem very petty and not a good way to advance your career. The anger about the Bush comments has lasted a long time. The Chicks seem to want to keep their exicle from theSouthern music stations permanent.

Same elitist liberal thinking that we're used to hearing from the Left.

Liberals "get it". Non-liberals, i.e. conservatives, are morons, backward, strange, etc.

    Here's your sign, Mains.

Well , good luck girls. Sure hope that "small following of really cool people who get it," can keep all of you in the life and style you have grown accustomed to!As to me I never liked anything you did in the first place, just a bunch of monotonous whining that was passed off as singing. Grated on m y nerves like heck, and I had to change the station or turn the radio down til it was gone. Was sorta like a buzz saw working on your brain.

"Here's your sign" as in, redneck tour? As in, I'm from the south, and we love America, and anyone who challenges authority must HATE the government and we should just turn off our radios the way we've turned off our mind?. Good one. Here's your sign.

It's just those damn liberals and their free speech loving. We're from the south, where we love republican bible belt bullshit.
